Tuesday Morning Sun
03:50
|
|||
The city is wide awake, September daybreak
I sip my coffee on the front steps and think of our mistakes
You sit silent running fingers through your hair
We are unaware
That Tuesday morning sun
Tuesday morning blue sky
Tuesday morning sun
Will soon turn to fire
An airplane passes overhead, flying southbound
A butterfly beats its wings, turning circles around
I don't know what to say anymore
What are we waiting for
Tuesday morning sun
Tuesday morning blue sky
Tuesday morning sun
Will soon turn to fire
Crashes and crumbling as the smoke rises downtown
The butterfly stumbles and finally falls down to the ground
A chill makes me spill my coffee
And suddenly you say, "What now?"
A late-summer breeze billows through the air
We are unaware
That Tuesday morning sun
Tuesday morning blue sky
Tuesday morning sun
Will soon turn to fire

Sunglasses
03:10
|
|||
Your right hand shades your eyes from the sun
I watch you with my sunglasses on
Your left hand helps you tell the story
Of how you want to grow that garden for me
I've got a feeling you and I will always be in love
At my feet you lie on the grass
And tell our fortune in the clouds that pass
I use my fingers to come your hair
And throw my head back to breathe the warm spring air
I've got a feeling you and I will always be in love
La la da dum
La la da dam
La la da dum
You pick bunches of wildflowers
And tell me about red wine's superpowers
I raise a toast to deep blue skies
And all the years that we know will fly
I've got a feeling you and I will always be in love

Pocket Full of Sun
03:20
|
|||
I've got a pocket full of sun
I pull it out to see what it's become
And I hold it still and gently in my hand
The sun is soft, shifting shape
It spirals into a surface wave
Seeps through my fingers and turns into sand
I don't want to let the sun go
I should have kept my eye on it like Galileo
The sun slides onto the sidewalk
Spreads its glow up and down the block
And hits the glass windowpane across the street
The sun dances in a little girl's hair
Her mother's eyes squint in the glare
Then it moves along casting shadows on the concrete
I chase the sun like it's all mine
But I can't run as fast as the sun shines
My pocket's empty and inside out
How will I do without the sun to make my day
What can I do to make the sun stay?
I've got a pocket full of sun
I picked up a piece that had begun to light the sky
like late afternoon in summertime
Turns out there's enough to go around
Anyone can have sun they found
I've got a pocket full of sun
I pull it out to see what its become
